The Centro Studi Pergolesi is a centre of research and documentation established at the Università degli Studi di Milano. It develops and promotes studies, scientific meetings and publications on Giovanni Battista Pergolesi as well as on Italian vocal and instrumental music of the eighteenth century.
Among the insitutional purposes of the Centro Studi Pergolesi are:
- to promote research on the life and works of Pergolesi, on the cultural and musical context in Naples, on eighteenth-century Italian music;
- to receive Pergolesi's documentary, musical, literary and iconographic sources (as originals or copies in hard-copy, microfilm, digital forms), to catalogue them and to verify their authenticity;
- to provide documentary and scientific support to the National Critical Edition of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's works established by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities in 2009;
- to organise and promote conferences and study meetings, seminars, scientific publications;
- to cooperate with research centres and institutions that organise conferences, meetings, exhibitions, as well as with production companies committed to staging and performing Pergolesi's works.
The Centro Studi Pergolesi is based at the Dipartimento di Beni Culturali e Ambientali of the Università degli Studi di Milano.
